In the Book of John, Jesus Christ tells his followers, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Do you hear any judgment in that statement? We don’t. Do you hear a message of love in that statement? Absolutely — We do!
Here at Clearview Girls Academy, our belief structure is founded upon the teachings of Jesus Christ. Yes, we believe in carrying his message. And yet, just as we believe Jesus Christ would have felt, we do not insist that our students absorb that message. Let’s be honest. Faith is grown, not administered.
At Clearview Girls Academy we try to provide a safe space for our students to grow emotionally, academically, and spiritually. Notice how we did not use the term Christianity there? That is because here at Clearview Girls Academy, we want our students to express themselves wholly in these three facets. If their spirituality is strong but does not incorporate the teachings of Christ, we still consider that a success.
Spirituality is one of the building blocks in the foundation of recovery. If that spiritual building block is solid and healthy, we feel that the temple built upon that foundation will be strong as well. We do not hold judgment toward whatever affiliation hangs over that temple’s door.
Our Faith Is but a Part of Our Foundation
Clearview Girls Academy believes that by instilling moral values and by teaching the principles of compassion and respect, we are better able to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in life. That is because morality, values, compassion, and respect are not merely tenets of Jesus Christ; they are also ways by which all spiritual beings aim to live their lives.
Also, while faith and spirituality are a large part of the milieu here at Clearview Girls Academy, they are not the only part. We also believe in promoting emotional well-being. Toward that end, we use tools such as dialectic behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, reality therapy, and trauma therapy. We have a major focus on academics as well, as we are a fully accredited middle school and high school.
Do we love Jesus Christ? We think you can answer that by now. Do we love our students just as much? The answer is an emphatic yes! All that matters to us is that your daughter feels safe and loved and that she receives the greatest level of care we can provide.
What if My Family Doesn’t Identify With Jesus Christ?
The influential Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, once said, “The seed of suffering in you may be strong, but don’t wait until you have no more suffering before allowing yourself to be happy.” We know you may be suffering right now. We understand that your family may be hurting and struggling. Please don’t let concerns about religious affiliations stop you from giving your daughter the help she needs.
Identifying as a Christian is not a requirement to attend Clearview Girls Academy. We have had many students who have either pushed Christ out of their life or did not come from Christian backgrounds before coming to Clearview Girls Academy. Those who come through our doors will not be judged on any basis. Instead, we will go to any length to help them recover.
It is also true that many of our families send their daughters to us in times of crisis, and spirituality is not at the forefront of that crisis. We understand. This is why we focus on all of your daughter’s needs at the severity level at which they present themselves.
Our Goal Is Recovery for Your Daughter, Full Stop
Do we hope that your daughter comes away from Clearview Girls Academy with a renewed sense of spirituality? Of course, we do. But our primary goal is for your child to succeed at Clearview Girls Academy so that she can go out into the world and thrive.
Jesus Christ says, “Open the door to me, as I have opened myself for you.” We want to be that open door for you and your child. We have no spiritual requirements for attending Clearview Girls Academy. As Jesus Christ would do, we hold no judgments toward any family or anyone who is struggling, and we hold no monopoly on recovery. Our only concern is that your daughter receives the help she needs.
We understand that you and your family may be hurting right now. Please know that we hold you in our hearts and want to be the helping hand to see you through this. That is not just a teaching of Jesus Christ; it is a human one.
At Clearview Girls Academy, we are a faith-based, Christ-centered program that provides a safe space for spiritual growth and exploration. We believe that the teachings of Jesus Christ can aid in your daughter’s healthy recovery. However, this is only one of the tools in our carpenter’s belt of recovery. We do not require girls to have any certain beliefs to be accepted into Clearview Girls Academy. Furthermore, girls don’t have to believe in Jesus Christ to succeed in our program. Though we do believe that spirituality will aid in girls’ recovery, our primary purpose is to help your daughter, and thus your family, to heal and recover.
