“I was born in California to a homeless woman and was put in foster care. I went to one foster home before I came to my forever home I live with now. My parents met me on November 1st and they took me home on November 5th. I was about to turn three that same month. I was adopted on January 9th 2012.

Things started to go downhill with me when I was in 5th grade. and it really started with lying about a school project and saying I did it but I didn’t. Then I started lying more and it just became easier and fighting came easier. I was against my parents. They took me out of school and I was mad and was not behaving so my parents put me back in school and it still wasn’t good. I fought a lot with my mom in the classroom and she was a teacher. I yelled at my mom in front of her students. Then, after that I was put fully back in school, I had been doing a hybrid so I was in school half the time and half the time in my mom’s classroom. Then summer came and it was horrible. I was making bad decisions, I was arguing and fighting and it was not okay. I did fail sixth grade that year. The school was kind enough to let me move on to 7th grade the following year.

During 7th grade I had a shadow who came with me to every class and it was embarrassing. I was the only one out of my friends who had a shadow. I liked my shadow and my friends liked my shadow but I didn’t like having a shadow. She came with me to every single class and helped me with school and I passed school with good grades thanks to Madison. Madison was my shadow’s name.

This year was rough too. I was still fighting with my parents. I was grounded almost every single day. I think I was grounded for like 11 months straight. I stopped talking to my dad and I didn’t care. Eighth grade came and it was the worst time in my life. I had a shadow again. I was so embarrassed by it. Things at home were really bad and I started getting really angry. My parents took me out of high school because I was making poor decisions. I lied to all my friends telling them that my parents abuse me and CPS was called under false accusations.

After that I isolated myself, I didn’t ever want to leave my room. I never wanted to talk to my parents. I didn’t want to talk to my siblings. I just wanted to not be there. Well after freshman year which was really hard in not successful at home on June 27th 2023 I was taking the residential treatment in Heron, Montana. That’s when my life was saved.

My relationship with my parents was restored. I was alive, I’m happy and I actually cared about my family. It was really hard work trying to graduate. I gave up many times but I did it. On August 27th 2025 I graduated in Clearview Horizon Girls Academy. I’ve been home for a little over a month now and I’ve started senior year. As soon as I got back I’m back at the school. I got CPS on my parents at I’m with my friends my family. I am learning how to be at home. I love my parents and my siblings. I was sent when I was 15 and now I will be 18 next month. I spent 2 years and 1 month, 792 days, at Clearview Horizon Girls Academy. My family has been saved.”
