The words that make up our daily speech can have so much meaning. For instance, how you refer to someone can convey respect or the opposite. The way that we refer to others is how we show others what we think about them and who we believe we are in relation to them. At Clearview, we pride ourselves in seeing each girl who comes through our program as a student, not just a patient.
While the difference between these words may seem minimal to others at first, this difference conveys our highest intentions. Student is a word that conveys the endless possibilities we see in each girl. It also encapsulates the focus of our programs.
The Word Student vs. Patient
Language is something can convey meaning in many different ways. At Clearview Horizon Girls Academy, we use the language “student” instead of patient, because we want to convey a specific message. We believe that every girl who comes through our door has the potential and ability to shine in recovery and in academics.
The word student best conveys the personal relationship we want to have with the girls who attend our program. That word also conveys our values. Education and lifelong learning is one of those values. We believe in imparting knowledge about life in general, and we intentionality set up each girl who comes to us for success.
Clearview: Intentionality in Our Students
Everything from our programming to our wording works to show our intentions. Our care is personalized, knowledgeable, and focused on each student who works with us. Recovery is a process that can feel intimidating, but we believe in the power within each student and we aim to help empower our students.
As a recovery center, we don’t just see ourselves as one stop for your daughter. We see ourselves as a stepping-stone to a future full of success. Each student’s work starts here and continues through all phases of her life.
The goal of treatment and our program is to build a personal relationship with each student. It is our belief that a personal relationship will foster the right environment for your daughter and keep her focused on the stages of recovery. We believe that if girls are known and feel as though they are heard, then a life of recovery and academic success starts there.
A Focus on Academics at Clearview
At Clearview Horizon Girls Academy, the focus of our programs is on treatment and academics. We believe that every student who comes through our door is worth all of our time in the educational realm. This is because we feel that education is the building block of the future.
As an accredited private school, we can help lead your student to success and early or on-time graduation. If your student will not be graduating during her stay with us, we can keep in contact with her school to ensure continuing success for each student.
Our program can offer many things in the realm of education. If your daughter has fallen behind or needs a guiding hand to get back on track, we are there. Addiction within school years can cause even the best students to fall behind.
A Research-Based Approach
the website justthinktwice.gov states that “Research shows that there is a definite link between teen substance abuse and how well you do in school. Teens who abuse drugs have lower grades, a higher rate of absence from school and other activities, and an increased potential for dropping out of school.” Clearview acknowledges this fact. We work to get your student back on track, helping her to catch up and/or to graduate.
After graduation and completion of secondary school, we offer the possibility for your student to start her college education through local and distance connections. We also offer vocational studies to help each student look toward the future. The focus on education in our program helps ensure future success in each student’s life, starting immediately.
Looking to the Future
We believe that recovery should not just be focused on the now, but rather should be a forward-looking process. Recovery is an ever-growing, changing process that should continue with each student as they develop. Recovering from addiction or mental health issues is a journey of learning. Girls learn the tools to use and the steps to take, and they carry that knowledge with them every day from then on. This is why we call our girls “students.” We believe we are starting a lifelong process of learning and passion related to recovery as well.
The tools we teach students help them build new lives in recovery starting the moment they leave us. Their education is important for their future success and will prepare them for the struggles that can come with the path of recovery. Education is a lifelong process, just like recovery, and we believe in nurturing lifelong students.
Our teachers and therapists teach a variety of skills and are there for your daughter through all of the steps in recovery. While recovery can be a difficult journey, your daughter can use the strength and knowledge she gains to be confident in her path after her recovery program ends.
Education is the most important tool to prepare your daughter for life, including any future trials. Recovery can feel overwhelming, but when girls become lifelong learners, this leads to success. We believe that each girl who comes through our doors has the potential to be a high-achieving student. The difference between being a patient and student in our program is that we employ a personalized, well-rounded approach. This approach includes the academic work we will do with your daughter to ensure her long-term success. If your daughter is struggling in school due to addiction or behavioral health problems, Clearview can help set her on a better course. Contact us today at 866-584-4788.
